Team Spirit Gets A Boost With OPI

29 Oct

It’s no secret that our High Schools (make that all our schools) need constant fundraising to keep them afloat. Enter the Boosters.

Booster clubs are generally run and organized by the parents of the students in the supported organization in high schools, and by athletic supporters and fans at colleges. It is not a social club. Its main function is to develop support for the student program. In the case of University High School our Boosters are part of the Uni High Educational Fund (UHEF). As Communication Chair of the UHEF, I’ve taken it on myself to put the Fun into our fundraising.

Our JV Team Mom, Carmen Brooks and one of the Coaches came to us with a fabulous idea of Booster Shout Outs (shown in the photo with my team spirit nails). Game attendees purchase a “shout out”, which means that their message of support to a team player or other message gets read during the game by PE-Teacher-by-day-and-Game-Announcer-by-night Paul Duke. It’s been a ton of fun and added a positive kick to the tone of the game.

Why tell you all this? It seemed the right time to get into the Uni Wildcat spirit. By now, you know me well enough to know this means not just action but deed and all deeds are backed up by appropriate nails!

It didn’t take me long to shrug off my signature right hand flower (OK, OK, I admit, it’s still on my toe) and go for the base coat of OPI Unforgettably Blue with a french tip like addition of OPI’s Brights Power for the final touch.

End results? We won the Homecoming game!

Makeup.com Editor’s Tips:

To prevent air bubbles in nail polish, roll the polish bottle between your hands instead of shaking it, and avoid painting in a draft—like under a fan or outside in a breeze—which can rapidly dry the polish and create bubbles or a rough surface
